Are you ready to rev up your engines? On Sunday, August 13, 2023, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is hosting its annual Touch-a-Truck event on Downtown Cleveland’s Public Square. From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, families and fans of public transit can get up close and personal with some of the biggest vehicles in the GCRTA fleet.
Some of the RTA trucks and vehicles to see and explore include:
- Transit Police Cars, Motorcycles & Command Vehicle
- HealthLine Bus
- B-Line Trolley and Special Holiday Trolley
- Salt Trucks
- Mobile Mechanic Truck
- Front End Loader
- Paratransit Vehicles
Why You Should Attend the Touch-a-Truck Event
At the Touch-a-Truck event, you can explore the inner workings of these incredible machines. From buses and emergency vehicles to construction equipment, there will be a wide variety of vehicles on display. Take the opportunity to see the vehicles up close, touch their surfaces, and even sit inside some of them. It's a unique chance to learn how these vehicles function and how they are used. One of the highlights of the event is the interactive stations that kids can try their hands at pretending to be bus drivers. They can climb into the driver's seat, pretend to steer the vehicle, and honk the horn. It's a chance for them to experience what it's like to be behind the wheel of these massive machines. In addition to the vehicles, GCRTA Transit Police will be there to give a K9 demonstration and will be offering FREE ID cards to families, as part of Operation Community Watch. The GCRTA Human Resources staff will also be present to answer questions about employment, benefits, and career opportunities with GCRTA. Lastly, at Public Square, there will be food trucks, entertainment, and the last 'Splash Pad Sunday.'
Looking forward to seeing you on August 13!
