RTA is announcing the recruitment of interns to the biennial Public Transit Development Program Internship. Formerly titled the Management Development Program, this 10-week summer internship is an exciting and unique opportunity to dive into the world of public transit. Open to juniors and seniors in college (as well as anyone with a Bachelor’s Degree), selected interns will be immersed in hands-on learning while adding value to the Greater Cleveland RTA. Public Transit DPIs will have the opportunity to work in busy bus and/or rail districts, do meaningful work, support complex projects, make recommendations about approaches, and celebrate progress by reporting out to district and executive leaders. Those interns who achieve the most success will receive an offer to join RTA’s Public Transit Development Program (PTDP). The PTDP is a 2-year rotational program that results in well-rounded public transit professionals who work in a variety of roles post-program. Rotations in the full 2-year program are based on a combination of core assignments as well as specific interests of each participant. Graduates of the program have gone on into successful positions in district management, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Internal Audit, Human Resources, the Office of Management and Budget, and Information Technology, to name a few.
RTA is currently accepting applications for the summer of 2021 Public Transit DPI, with a start date of June 7. Ideal candidates are interested in learning about a career in public service, are excellent team players, and can adapt quickly to a changing environment. Internship assignments will not be remote in nature, and may be at any one of RTA’s locations throughout Cuyahoga County. Interested candidates can apply online at the careers page.
