575-EYES

Nov 29, 2018

In light of tragic events across the country, RTA and Transit Police are continuing their commitment to the safety of customers, passengers, and employees.

Building on the "See something, Say Something" campaign of DHS, RTA has been working with a vendor, CBTS, to offer a safe and discreet way to notify Transit Police Dispatchers of suspicious or criminal activities via text message.

The 575-EYES "See Something, Text Something" campaign is designed to allow customers to send SMS text, photo and video messages to Transit Police. There are no apps to download. Users simply send text messages to 216-575-EYES (3937) and dispatchers are engaged. They can then chat with the customer via text and, if needed, forward the message to responding field officers who can monitor or continue the chat with the customer. In addition to human interaction, the system makes use of Artificial Intelligence on the IBM Watson platform, to help Dispatchers categorize and prioritize responses.  After each session a survey is sent to the customer, to allow us to keep improving the experience.

The 575-EYES program was the result of collaboration between our IT Department, and telecommunications vendor CBTS, to improve the experience and safety of all our passengers, customers, and staff, and offers another means, by which our Transit Police are able to deliver superior service.

Since its inception on June 1, 2018, 575-EYES has received countless tips that have led to a safer RTA system for all.

So, make sure you add this number to your phone’s contact list. You never know when you may need it. 575-EYES is an added benefit and tool available for all.

We all have a responsibility to report suspicious activity to keep our fellow riders and ourselves safe.
