As the filming of Fast 8 continues, road closures are being requested daily by the film crew. RTA is working as quickly as possible to notify employees and customers of those road closures and subsequent bus reroutes. The most current information about RTA bus reroutes can be found at: http://www.riderta.com/f8. |
CLEVELAND -- Brace yourself. Another action film is coming to town.
Clevelanders know that this is a mixed bag -- Hollywood excitement and major stunts vs. closed roads and bus detours for riders of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA).
"Fast 8" -- an action movie that centers around illegal street racing and car heists -- will film on Downtown streets from May 18-June 8. Expect car chases, car flips, shooting, and cars crashing into buildings and motorcades.
Filming will be in and around Public Square, including East Ninth Street, Chester Avenue, Ontario Street, Prospect Avenue, Superior Avenue and Vincent Avenue. Only a few roads will be closed at a time.
The filming will also require parking lots for trucks with equipment, crew and catering.
It's all part of the Fast and Furious franchise, which has been described as "movies about nerds who like fast cars." The movie, which takes place in New York City, is slated to open on April 4, 2017.
