GCRTA Closes The Red Line W.117- Madison Station For Repairs

Jul 2, 2024

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) will close the Red Line W.117 – Madison Station on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, until further notice due to needed rehabilitation work of the station’s platform and track bridges that were constructed in 1953.
This rehabilitation project will extend the service life of the three bridges and adjoining platform by utilizing innovative design/construction methods with materials that will improve the collection and distribution of surface drainage and provide proper expansion/contraction of the platform and bridge. The project also includes patching city concrete curb walls and replacing city sidewalk handrails.
All other Red Line stations will be in service during this rehabilitation project.
Bus service at the W.117 – Madison Station will continue while the station is closed for rail service. The #25 - Madison provides east and west service, while the #78 - West 117 provides north and south service from the station.
Some passengers may prefer the #26/26A route on Detroit Avenue, approximately one-half mile north of the station.
Riders who regularly utilize this station’s rail service should make alternative travel plans by using the trip planner on rideRTA.com or calling the RTA Community Connection Line at 216-621-9500.
