Nov 11, 2024

On Friday, November 8, 2024, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, and Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Director Pamela Boratyn announced the award of $800,000 in grant funds to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) as part of the Ohio Workforce Mobility Partnership Program.

These funds will be utilized to upgrade waiting areas at bus stops and other sites with significant amounts of boarding in job-dense areas, and to fund a study that examines the feasibility and effectiveness of first mile/ last mile Microtransit in western Cuyahoga and eastern Lorain counties.

“This is the second year for GCRTA to be awarded grants through the Ohio Workforce Mobility Partnership Program,” said GCRTA Deputy General Manager Engineering & Project Management, Michael J. Schipper. “This funding opportunity underscores the importance of public transportation to our region, and GCRTA is extremely appreciative to Governor DeWine, ODOT Director Pamela Boratyn, and the Ohio Legislature for their continued support to improve our services throughout the Greater Cleveland area.”

The Workforce Mobility Partnership Program is administered by ODOT’s Office of Transit, which advocates and supports safe and reliable personal mobility by coordinating and funding public transportation as a vital element of Ohio's transportation system.
