Dec. 17, 2015: Public meeting set to discuss new station at Lee-Shaker

Dec 9, 2015

SHAKER HEIGHTS -- The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is holding a public meeting for those interested in the upcoming makeover at the Green Line light-rail station at Lee Road and Shaker Boulevard.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 17, 2015, in the second-floor Council Chambers at City Hall, 3400 Lee Road, next to the Lee-Van Aken Station on the Blue Line.

The purpose is to present the results of the Section 106 process, which determines if the project will have any adverse effects on historic districts or buildings. The station design has already gone through a public process with the City and has been approved by the Architectural Review Board and Planning Commission.

The Dec. 17 meeting is solely to discuss the recommended finding of "no adverse effect" to historic resources. This is a requirement for federally funded projects.

Construction of the $1.3 million project is slated to begin in late spring or early summer, 2016. The work should be completed 5 months later.
