CLEVELAND -- The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will close the Green Line between Shaker Square and Green Road Friday-Sunday, April 19-21, for a grade crossing upgrade. Buses will replace trains for the duration of this project.
The replacement bus service will make all stops and operate as closely as possible to the regular Green line schedule.
During this 3-day closure, riders also have the option of riding the Blue Line, as all Green Line trains will operate over the Blue line east of Shaker Square. This means rail service along Van Aken Boulevard will be every 5 minutes during rush hours and every 15 minutes at all other times. Customers can also ride from Shaker Square, as service between Shaker Square and Tower City is running as scheduled during this project.
Van Aken Boulevard will be closed in the project area near the Shaker/Van Aken crossing from Tuesday-Sunday, April 16-21. Drivers should follow detour signs for this detour route.
- Left on Drexmore to South Moreland Blvd.
- Right on South Moreland to Shaker Square
- Right around the square
- Left to get on Shaker west.
Cars going north on Van Aken will be able to make a right and go east on Shaker Blvd.
Regular Green Line rail service will resume at the start of service on Monday, April 22.
RTA apologizes for the inconvenience as this necessary grade crossing work takes place.
