The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) announces the swearing-in of Anastasia A. Elder as the newest member to their Board of Trustees. Ms. Elder was sworn into service by Janet Burney, GCRTA Deputy General Manager of Legal Affairs prior to today’s Board meeting inside GCRTA’s Main Office Building at 1240 W.6th St., Cleveland, Ohio 44113.

Ms. Elder’s appointment was made by Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb, as she replaces Trustee Calley Mersmann, and serves the remainder of Ms. Mersmann’s term ending in March 2026. 

"I'm pleased to welcome Ms. Elder as our latest Trustee," said GCRTA Board President and Mayor of Bay Village, Paul A. Koomar.  "We have a good mix of professionals who bring a diversity of knowledge and renewed energy to the Board.  I look forward to working with our Trustees as we move forward to achieve shared goals in guiding GCRTA as a leading transit authority both locally and nationally."

About the Board Appointee: 

Anastasia A. Elder currently serves as an Associate at UB Greensfelder L.L.P., where she represents commercial real estate developers, financial institutions, and institutions of higher education on a range of issues, including contract and employment-related disputes.  She has prior experience advising on matters involving policies and procedures, legislation, conduct and discipline, and risk management. 

Ms. Elder holds a Juris Doctor from the Cleveland State University College of Law, and a BA in English from The Ohio State University.  She is a frequent transit rider who currently serves on the Cleveland State University Law Alumni Association, Norman S. Minor and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations, and as a mentor for College Now Greater Cleveland.
