The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) officially announced their new Connectworks Program, a pilot micro transit program that connects people from public transportation stops on GCRTA to the front door of their workplace.
“This program, operated by SHARE Mobility, is a transit access strategy designed to eliminate the challenges of the first-mile last-mile dilemma,” said GCRTA General Manager and CEO, India Birdsong Terry. “While this pilot presently only operates in Solon, we look forward to expanding the program to other communities to connect people to workforce and economic development opportunities.” “We appreciate Senator Matt Dolan for his vision, Cuyahoga County Executive, Chris Ronayne for his support of mobility innovation, and of course, SHARED Mobility in conjunction with City of Solon Mayor, Edward Kraus for their willingness to be our pilot partners.”
Connectworks operates from the GCRTA Southgate Transit Center located in Maple Heights. Riders board at the Transit Center and are transported to their employer in Solon. "On behalf of the City of Maple Heights and the GCRTA riders that access transportation at the Southgate Transit Center, today confirms that they are seen and have been heard in their requests for reliable and safe transportation to the end of the line,” said City of Maple Heights Mayor, Annette Blackwell.
GCRTA also acknowledges the ongoing support provided by labor union, represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union, local 268.
