CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is joining fellow transit systems from across the country to share in an audio “shout out” to our Nation’s essential workers for their efforts during the current health crisis. At 3:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time), RTA buses and rail cars will sound their horns to salute our local heroes.
RTA, along with New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), Chicago’s Metra commuter rail system, Amtrak and other regional bus, train and ferry operators, will participate in #SoundTheHorn, by giving two, one-second blasts of their horns to salute our Nation’s essential workers.
“During this very difficult time, we are so proud of the effort given by our entire RTA team and their unwavering commitment to providing other essential workers reliable and safe public transportation,” stated RTA General Manager/CEO India Birdsong. “Sounding our horns along with our partners across the country is our way of saying thanks to our transit workers, healthcare providers, first responders, grocery store workers and others who continue to report to work each day to perform their essential functions in an effort to support their local communities.”
We encourage all Greater Clevelanders within ear shot of RTA buses or trains sounding their horns to use #SoundTheHorn and share our salute with an audio or video post to their preferred social media platform.
