CLEVELAND, OH -- Please join the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority's (RTA) new CEO and General Manager India Birdsong between 7 am and 8:30 am, Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Tower City Rotunda, as she meets and greets customers arriving at the station.
Although she'll be talking to riders throughout the morning rush hour, she also will be available for brief media comments to share her first impressions of the region.
Birdsong's first day at RTA is Monday, Sept. 16. She will spend the day connecting with staff and getting to know employees. Throughout her first two weeks, she'll visit the bus and rail districts, maintenance garages, Transit Police headquarters and meet with union representatives during her "listening tour" of the transit authority.
Birdsong will be available for one-on-one interviews with the media later in the month, once she has met everyone internally and better familiarized herself with RTA projects and issues.
"I'm looking forward to getting to know as many employees as possible, as well as meeting our customers -- to gather their input, hear their concerns. Many are eager to see change, and we're eager to deliver," said Birdsong.
