CLEVELAND, OH – The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is hosting a series of community engagement meetings and providing the public an opportunity to participate in a survey beginning Monday, May 6 and continuing through May 31.
The goal is to garner input related to RTA’s bus system redesign and is part of the second step of the Jarrett Walker + Associates’ System Redesign study.
"Meeting attendees will have an opportunity to comment on two different service plan variants – one with a goal of maximizing ridership (attracting as many riders as possible) and the second focused on maximizing market coverage (being available in as many places as possible)," said RTA Interim CEO and General Manager, Floun'say Caver, Ph.D.
"These variants were developed as a result of input from the initial survey completed earlier this year. That on-line survey was administered to solicit comments from both riders and non-riders alike regarding service priorities," Caver said.
Both plans were developed within the constraint of the 2019 operating budget and are based on the community’s service priorities, with the outcome to determine the appropriate balance between ridership and coverage.
Additionally, attendees will also have an opportunity to provide input on RTA’s fare structure.
The System Redesign Study and Survey and the Fare Equity Study and Survey are both part of RTA’s Five Pillar Studies that offer a comprehensive examination of RTA's operations and the impact on the Greater Cleveland and Cuyahoga County communities.
