New Hourly Pay Rates In November For GCRTA Operators

Operators will reach the increased top hourly rate in 2/3 the time previously required.

Cleveland, OH -- Starting in November 2023, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is increasing their hourly pay rates for full and part-time Bus, Rail, and Paratransit Operators, while reducing the years needed to reach the top hourly pay rate.

The new hourly rates are as follows:

  • Bus Operators with Commercial Driver License (CDL)
    • $25.45 per hour after training is completed.
    • $27.14 per hour in year two.
    • $30.54 per hour in year three.
    • $33.93 per hour in year four. (Top pay)
  • Rail Operators
    • $25.45 per hour after training is completed.
    • $27.14 per hour in year two.
    • $30.54 per hour in year three.
    • $33.93 per hour in year four. (Top pay)
  • Paratransit Operators with CDL
    • $22.05 per hour after training is completed.
    • $23.75 per hour in year two.
    • $27.14 per hour in year three.
    • $30.54 per hour in year four. (Top pay)

Note: Student Operator training hourly pay rate starts at $17 per hour (non-CDL), for Bus, Rail and Paratransit Operators. Then goes to $20 per hour for Bus Operators upon successful completion of permanent CDL testing, $18.50 per hour for Paratransit Operators upon successful completion of permanent CDL testing, and $20 per hour for Rail Operators upon completion of Light Rail training portion of the Rail Operator training program.
