 New Board Member Sworn In to GCRTA Board of Trustees

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) announces the swearing-in of Mayor Marie Gallo as the newest member to their Board of Trustees. Mayor Gallo was sworn into service by Anna Hlavacs, GCRTA Senior Counsel Contracts, Real Estate and Administrative Law during today’s Board Committees meeting inside GCRTA’s Main Office Building at 1240 West 6th St., Cleveland, Ohio 44113. 

Mayor Gallo’s appointment was made by the Cuyahoga County Mayors and Managers Association, with Trustee Gallo serving a three-year term ending in March 2028.

“GCRTA welcomes the appointment of Mayor Marie Gallo to our Board of Trustees.  Her track record in public service and leadership will be additive to our Board as we continue to Connect the Community by providing equitable, accessible, and efficient transit for our riders and residents,” said GCRTA General Manager and Chief Executive Officer India L. Birdsong Terry.

“I am pleased to welcome Mayor Gallo as our latest member, said GCRTA Board President, Paul A. Koomar. “I look forward to working with Trustee Gallo along with all our other Trustees as we move forward to achieve our shared goals in guiding GCRTA as a mobility pacesetter in the region.” 

About the Board Appointee: 

Marie Gallo currently serves as the first female Mayor of the City of Parma Heights. Prior to her election as mayor in 2022, Ms. Gallo was the Director of Human Resources for the City of North Olmsted where she assisted with the oversight of over 200 full-time employees and multiple city departments. She also served as Clerk of Council for the cities of North Olmsted and Parma Heights and served as a Parma Heights City Council member for over a decade, serving four consecutive terms as City Council President. 

Ms. Gallo earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Baldwin Wallace University and then achieved her Municipal Clerk Certification that she continues to maintain today.
