CLEVELAND – The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) regrets to inform our customers that the elevator that serves Track 7 for westbound Red Line customers and for the Waterfront Line is not operating. The necessary part has been ordered.
Track 7 can still be accessed from the stairs at the main level of Tower City, between Dario Fashion Group and Victoria’s Secret.
However, for those who need to use an elevator to and from Track 7, RTA has several options.
1. Westbound rail riders coming from the east can exit before they get to Tower City at the East 55th rail station and take a special shuttle bus to Tower City.
2. Westbound Red Line rail riders coming from the east can stay on the train through Tower City and exit at West 25th Station and take an eastbound train back to Tower City. Those eastbound trains are using the regular track exit at the Tower City Rotunda, which is served by both elevators and escalators.
3. Blue and Green Line riders coming from the east can stay on the train to the Waterfront Line’s South Harbor Station and return on an eastbound train back to the Tower City Rotunda. Once inside the Rotunda, elevators and escalators take customers up to street level.
4. Westbound Red Line riders can head east to East 34 St. Station from the regular platform area in the Rotunda, and then take the return train west and stay on the train through Tower City to west side destinations.
RTA realizes that either option can pose delays to commuters. RTA sincerely apologizes for the continued inconvenience until the elevator is repaired.
